How can I activate remote access in my Thieme account?

You would like to activate your remote access in your Thieme account. Once your organization has been successfully recognized, you can link your Thieme account to the organization. This will give you access to the organization's licenses without having to authenticate yourself via IP, Shibboleth, or access link each time. Remote access is valid for 180 days. As soon as you re-authenticate via IP, Shibboleth, or access link and prove that you still belong to the organization, remote access will be automatically extended for another 180 days.


Automatic Remote access is automatically activated when you register for a Thieme account and your organization has been successfully recognized beforehand.

How it works automatically: Open a Thieme product and ensure that your organization has been successfully recognized. This depends on the authentication method used by your organization (IP authentication or Shibboleth).
Click on “Create new account” on the login screen and complete the registration process.
Your organization will now be displayed in your Thieme account under “My Organizations.” Remote access is active. If necessary, you can deactivate it manually using a button.


How it works manually: Open a Thieme product and ensure that your organization has been successfully recognized. This depends on the authentication method used by your organization (IP authentication or Shibboleth).
Log in to your Thieme account with your email address and password.
Your recognized organization will now be displayed in your Thieme account under “My Organizations.” Click on the “Activate remote access” button.


How can I extend remote access?
Remote access is limited to 180 days. You will receive an email notification 14 days before expiration. Once you re-authenticate via IP, Shibboleth, or access link and prove that you still belong to the organization, remote access will be automatically extended for another 180 days. If the 180 days have already expired, automatic renewal is no longer possible. In this case, you must repeat the steps described above to activate remote access.
